Marine Electronics

Nick Belson Design Ltd.'s main area of expertise is marine electronics.  From our involvement with two rounds of the Volvo Ocean Race and the America's Cup we have gained a lot of experience designing custom products for the high demands of international yacht racing.

Onboard data collection and instrumentation systems with telemetry via radio modems, GPRS or Sat Comms allow yacht designers and crews alike to get the most of their boats when given accurate metrics for their current performance. Data may be collected from variety of sources including NMEA-0183, NMEA-2000, RS232, CAN bus and Ethernet and then data-logged, displayed onboard or transmitted to a shore based facility or chase boat.

Over the coming months Nick Belson Design Ltd. is actively designing new products in this field including a NMEA data-logger (stand alone) with GPRS output to a shore based facility with PC based dash board, and also a sail profiler.  We are currently looking for a partner in the sail manufacturing field to assist us with this project to accurately indicate via a camera system that the sails are set correctly for the given conditions.
